We had a great first day of third grade! Thanks for all of your support in helping your kids get back into the school routine. I hope your children have some interesting things to share with you today. Here is a picture from our assembly with Mr. Atkinson, our new principal.
Students should have their take home folder and assignment notebook in their backpacks. Inside is a homework assignment and a parent letter, with a couple of cut-apart cards with our blog address, if you need a reminder. The letter also has some information to tide you over until Meet-the-Teacher night.
Be on the lookout for updates to the tabs close to the top of the blog. I'll also be adding a couple more, like a "Homework This Week" tab.
If parents are reading this with your children, feel free to comment on this post with your child's favorite part of his/her first day of school.
Looking forward to tomorrow!

Sadly, I'm just sitting down for the first time today at 10 p.m., so Henry is not sitting beside me. But, I can tell you this. Henry came running off the bus with a huge smile on his face. He came up to me and without any prompting from me, he said, "Mom, I think 3rd Grade is gonna be awesome!" Never has he shown such enthusiasm from the start of the school year. I cannot tell you what his favorite part of his day was because clearly, he embraced all of it! I agree: 3rd grade IS gonna be awesome! Thanks a bunch, Michael. Looking forward to a fantastic year. See you at Meet the Teacher Night. Valerie
