The pattern for our first week of spelling words is:
Words with short a sounds and words with short o sounds.
At the beginning of the week, students take a "pre-test," where I dictate the list of words and they write them into their assignment notebook. This will give you and your child an idea of how much practice is needed to be prepared for the post-test on Friday. After I give the pretest, we go through each word together on the screen and students rewrite the words they misspelled.
